Round 1 Match 6

It’s a vivd match of brilliant blue Ammineite against deep green Dioptase.

Discovered in a guano deposit, Ammineite was the first mineral discovered to incorporate ammine (NH₃) as a copper deposit reacted with the nitrogen to form this unique mineral. It’s a soft, crumbly sky blue mineral that elicits snickers in all who know its origin story.

Dioptase is nicknamed the desert emerald for its stunning appearance, although it’s much softer with a hardness akin to tooth enamel. It is pyroelectric, generating an electric charge when heated.
